UAE COVID-19 vaccine: where to get vaccinated in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharja

Health authorities in the UAE have released a full list of all the clinics and hospitals where UAE residents can now go and get a COVID-19 vaccination in the emirates.

The voluntary programme began in Abu Dhabi and it has now been extended to Dubai and the Northern Emirates – with residents now able to register for a free vaccination should they wish. The vaccination being doled out in the UAE is the Sinopharm vaccine, with two injections administered 21 days apart. According to the UAE regulators, the China-developed Sinopharm has 86 percent efficacy, and was approved for use after Phase 3 trials found it was effective against coronavirus. UAE-wide trials in summer involved 31,000 subjects.

As of Tuesday March 2, Dubai citizens over the age of 16 are now able to get the Pfizer-BioNTech and those over the age of 18 can receive the Oxford-AstraZeneca.

Six DHA health facilities will be administering the vaccine. They are Zabeel Primary Health Care Centre, Al Mizhar Primary Health Care Centre, Nad Al Hamr Primary Health Care Centre, Barsha Primary Health Care Centre, Uptown Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre and Hatta Hospital.

\Patients who previously contracted COVID-19 no longer need to wait for three months to get the jab. Instead they can take it on completion of their isolation, provided the infection was mild or non-symptomatic.

As of Wednesday April 2, the Pfizer jab is being administered in the capital and across the emirate by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), and is available to everyone except those who are participants of Phase III of the clinical trial; have received a single or multiple dose of any other COVID-19 vaccine; pregnant women; and children under 16.

In Dubai the AstraZeneca vaccine has also now been approved for certain citizens and residents, with the first batches having arrived on February 2. Read more here.

Want to get the vaccine? You must bring your Emirates ID and health insurance / healthcare cards to produce on arrival.
